Pregnancy Update

I stole love this idea my friend Tracie did while she was pregnant. I've been a slacker about blogging/journaling/talking to anyone about my pregnancy except for Sean, and there are things I want to remember! So hopefully I can do this every couple weeks to help me remember this experience, and have a reference for future pregnancies.

How many weeks?: 17 weeks today!
Size of Baby: About the size of an onion: 5.5 inches, 5 oz
Countdown:
22 weeks left
Total weight gain/loss:
+5 lbs.
Maternity Clothes?:
Not yet. My mom bought me a few shirts and I have some sitting in a shopping cart on Motherhood Maternity's website (all clearance) but haven't showed Sean to get the go-ahead. Definitely going to need a belly band though, because jeans are getting uncomfortable and my actual work pants are still really baggy looking everywhere except where they button up. Baby is low.
Energy Levels: It all depends. Yesterday I felt great, and today I feel exhausted. I also feel like I've been fighting off a cold for the last 10ish days which sucks. I have tons more energy now then in my first trimester though. That part is great. I can actually cook a whole meal now as opposed to starting and making Sean finish cooking because I have to sit down. Although by 8pm I just want to go to bed.
Exercise Habits: What is that? My 24 membership expired and I haven't had time to go to Golds to get a new membership. Although they are having a deal through the end of January so I'm probably going to take advantage of that. I need to have the gym option. Home workouts I just don't make time for, especially after 8 hour work days. A couple days ago I shoveled part of the driveway for about 20 minutes and was exhausted so I count that.
Sleeping?: Depends on the night. Most nights I wake up a couple times a night, and around 5 or 5:30 I wake up and have a restless sleep until 7 when the alarm goes off. That part sucks.
Worst Moment in the past 2 weeks:
Taking a nap on Sunday (which was great) but not being able to fall asleep that night until 11, then having to wake up for work at 5:45. Also driving in this snow is so stressful and I'm sure is not good for poor little babe.
Best Moment in the past 2 weeks Sean started school and rocked his first couple tests. I always did awful on tests so I take his successes as mine :)
Miss anything?: Warm weather (doesn't count because that would be regardless, but I have to throw it out there). Sleeping all night long, being comfortable in jeans, chocolate, ice cream.
Movement: Not yet. At least I don't think so. Sometimes I think I feel something moving in there but I usually dismiss it. My doctor said since it is my first pregnancy I might not feel anything until 18-20 weeks. Or I could start feeling it now. When it happens though, it for sure will be super weird.
Morning Sickness?: Nauseous at night, but that is when the B6 in my prenatal vitamin is wearing off so I expect it. It feels great to sleep it off and wake up feeling just fine.
Food Cravings: Cheese quesadillas and Frosted Mini Wheats.
Food Aversions: Chocolate. It will sound good and then if I eat it I feel yuck within half an hour. Same with ice cream. I do give into the occasional Kit Kat with Sean though.
Showing yet?: Yep. I can't suck it in any more. Sometimes it still looks like I'm really bloated or chubby though. My sister told me it isn't a bump, it is more like a buh right now.
Gender Prediction: Not really. I've wanted a girl for a while now. Even though I had a dream a couple nights ago about my next ultrasound and it was a boy. But Sean dreamed about delivery and it was a girl. I still will keep thinking it is a girl haha. Two weeks until we find out... on Valentine's day!
Labor signs: No. Unless back and hip pain counts. Probably not because I can't take my walking breaks anymore because of the snow so now I just sit at my desk all day. Hate it.
Moods: Tired and cranky. I try not to lash out at anyone though. I usually just mutter under my breath, especially at drivers.
Not Looking Forward to: Taking that dang glucose test, I've heard awful things. Also not looking forward to getting less sleep as time goes on.
Looking Forward To: Finding out the gender so I can start buying clothes! And decorating.

Thankful Thursday

-The sun is out! Mostly...

- Sean's heater in his car got fixed so now we aren't freezing when we have to drive his car places!

- We get free lunch at work today, love the last date of the month for that reason.

- Sean got off work early on Monday, so we were both home by 4pm. It was so fun!

Friday Funnies

Thankful Thursday (a day late)

I missed it yesterday! So here goes:

*Thankful that I hit 16 weeks. I can't believe I'm almost halfway done! Just wish the nighttime nausea would disappear... Also grateful for diet 7up and the calming effects it has on my stomach.

*Thankful for my smartypants husband: did well on his first anatomy lab exam this semester. Hope baby gets his smarts!

*Thankful that it has hit 32 degrees 2 DAYS in a row! Miracle! (And did I really just say that?? I miss 65-75 degree weather...)

* Thankful for 1000mg Vitamin C that is keeping this cold away, but just barely.

*Thankful that my sister loves her job as a transcriptionist! When she was doing the course I was a wreck: what if she didn't get a job? What if she did and she hated it? But she loves it!

*Thankful that my other sister is graduating in April, thus ensuing that I get to party hard with my family the weekend of graduation! As hard as you can when you are 6+ months pregnant I guess.

Friday Funnies 1/18/13

And these two I am totally 100% in agreement with.

I really really really really miss warm weather...

Christmas Time is Here!

For Christmas this year, we drove down to CA to spend some time with my family. We don't get to see them that often so it was really nice to be there. Although the entire time I was feeling very crummy thanks to the little wee one in my belly... anyway, it was still fun!

Sunset in middle of nowhere, Utah. I don't even think we were to Scipio yet...

Our hotel room in Vegas. We stayed at the Clarion.

Sean was getting his socks and shoes on, and Blaze had other ideas; he decided to sit on Sean's feet.

Our little family!

Honestly, Blaze does amazingly well on car trips.
And that sheet? Well, let's just say that very minimal dog hair got in the back seat. Score.

I think he was really trying to get to the AC vent, but I decided he was in fact smiling for a picture.

So once we were home, we went inside and hugged family. Then I went out to the car to get Blaze's food, but I also grabbed the ultrasound pictures we had received the day before at my OB appointment. My dad was playing the piano and my mom was in the kitchen, so I dropped the pictures on the keyboard, and once he processed he almost started crying :) (Those of you that know me well know my goal with gifts is to make my dad laugh or cry.) He started calling for my mom who was saying, "In a minute!" but he persisted, and when she came over, she grabbed the pictures, got REALLY excited, hugged me and then said, "YOU LIED TO ME AT THANKSGIVING!" No joke. But they were all very excited, and the pictures hung on the fridge all week.

The rest of the week consisted of a lot of TV, dogs, and lying around. Not bad for a vacation.

Sunday after church. My mom asked me to accompany one of the Christmas songs on the flute. It had been 10 years or so since I had played the flute, but with lots of practice it was great!

(Caution: dog picture overload below)

Ruby. How she does that with her neck, I have no idea.

Sandi and Rocky. They can often be found snuggling.

My mom loves her dogs so much! (That's Rocky giving kisses.)

Blaze and Ruby reunited again. They used to sleep like this all the time.

(Oh side note: On the night before Christmas Eve day, my mom made 4 dozen cookies for my dad to take to work the next day. Blaze escaped his room and ate ALL of them, then threw them up in the kitchen. That was a wonderful wakeup call...)

Wow I can't tell if the one on the right is Blaze or Rocky.
But that's Ruby on the left picking a fight, as usual...

Rocky loves his duck. And whatever other toys he can fit into his mouth.

Did you know dog wrestling is one of my magic powers?

Those dogs love food, and begging.

Princess Ruby. Jenny wasn't even home at this point, and my mom let Ruby sleep on that bed.

My mom's gorgeous mantle, and about 1/3 of her nutcracker collection.
And the roaring fire Sean made.

Tim played a lot of video games, and Sean watched. I asked if he liked watching and he said, "Yes! It's like watching a movie, but better, 'cause when I say 'Do this' it actually happens!"

Lots of rain made for some pretty rainbows!

Successful shopping trip at the Gilroy, CA outlets! Even Sean got stuff!

On our way back. Gorgeous countryside. I half expected to see Maria von Trapp

Rainbows in mirror are closer than they appear.

Somewhere close to Tehachapi. Those are the windmills.

Such a fun trip! Can't wait to go again! Won't be for a while, probably won't be taking any fun trips for a long while, until after this little one is born...

Well Sean is on his way home, I should probably stop eating Cheez-Its and make some dinner.

Tim's 18th birthday!

It's been so fun having Tim live in Salt Lake. I think the last time I got to celebrate his birthday was when he was 9. Seriously?? Anyway, for his birthday, Sean, Jenny and I met up with Tim and Hannah at the Aquarium in Sandy, UT. It made us laugh, because it is totally built into an old grocery store. But we had fun anyway :)

Birthday boy!

There were jack-o-lanterns in all the exhibits. Don't worry, the otters ate theirs.

Isn't she though? Love her!

What you can't see in these two pictures is the otter to the left sleeping peacefully.

So in 2012, Sean and I touched both dolphins and sharks. Pretty good if you ask me!

Carly, this reminded me of Dwight, may he rest in peace...

These were called Cookie Starfish or something like that. They totally remind me of chocolate chip cookies.

Of course I took a picture of the penguins. Duh.

My husband likes to sit on people.

Blaze and Ruby got to hang out!

Blaze even shared his couch.

The cake! (I need some work with my cake decorating kit...)

The gang. We had such a fun time celebrating Tim's birthday. Can't believe my baby brother is 18! He is growing into such a wonderful young man, and I am so excited for his opportunity to serve a mission! Which, is coming up much sooner than I had anticipated. So excited though!
