What a birthday!

I wish that title meant I had an awesome, incredible, amazingly fun birthday. But alas, that is not the case. I've had a cold for the last few days that decided to be extra awful today, I had to work my 4 hours (even though I technically called in sick: my conscience got the better of me). Sean and Jenna are asleep while I work = totally trying to keep the jealousy monster at bay. Oh and I'm turning 28. Only 730 days to the big 3-0...ugh. But as I sit here, I can't help but feel blessed (and stuffy). I have so many wonderful things in my life and I wouldn't trade a rainy, sick, still-have-to-work day for anything. And hey, I'm not pregnant this year, which means my stomach/appetite won't be halted at Red Robin tonight.

Anyway, I thought it would be fun to do 28 random facts about myself. Hopefully I can come up with that many in my delirious state...

1. I have never broken a bone, not even a toe. Nor have I ever had a bad enough sprain to merit crutches.

2. Whenever I run (or play a sport that requires running: basketball, soccer, football) I have to start out really careful because my ankles don't warm up very fast. Not sure why, but it's' been like this since high school.

3. I am a Certified Pharmacy Technician, and although I've never worked as a tech, I keep my certification current.

4. When I started my Pharmacy Tech course, I was planning on moving back to California and working as a tech to put myself through nursing school. I even talked to Samantha (my cousin) about where to live, etc. so I could be in the singles ward she was in. (She was married, but her husband was in the bishopric.)

5. I met Sean halfway through my program. Obviously my plans changed a bit...

6. Speaking of Sean, the first few months I knew him I hated that I had a crush on him because I was "going to move to CA in December". Jenny, how many times did you hear that from me?

7. I danced tap, ballet, and jazz from Kindergarten to second grade, and then did just ballet until 8th grade.  I quit because I wanted to play basketball.

8. Disneyland is my all-time favorite place to go on vacation.

9. I started piano lessons when I was six. My mom was my teacher. I now play piano for primary.

10. I started playing the flute in 5th grade. I practiced ALL the time. I was first chair in the county Honor Orchestra in 8th grade.

11. I started learning to play the guitar around age 12 or something. I haven't made it very far. Jenny picked up much quicker than I did. She's great at it.

12. Junior year of high school was very busy. I played volleyball, basketball, and swam, was in 2 different choirs. Busy.

13. When I went to Camp KEEP in 6th grade, my "nature name" was Hemlock Hayley. Now that I think about it, Hedgehog Hayley would have been so cool. Maybe not back then...

14. I've took swim lessons starting at age 5 until I passed all the levels. Swimming is still my favorite part about summer.

15. Sophomore year of high school I found a pair of sunglasses, I think on the bus. I kept them because they looked awesome. (I cleaned them, don't worry.) When we went to Disneyland as a family a few months later, I had hanging on my shirt when we were on Haunted Mansion. I was leaning forward to tap on the buggy in front of us to scare my brother, and they fell onto the track and were lost forever. I probably cried for at least an hour. That was also the first time we went to California Adventure.

16. I prefer chocolate candy to fruity or other kinds of candy. But I don't really like chocolate cake.

17. I used to paint our dog Teddi's nails.

18. In 8th grade, my friend Emily and I wanted to make snickerdoodles, so we did. And then we died the dough blue.

19. Sean actually proposed about 3 weeks after we started officially dating. I didn't want to get teased about how we were engaged so fast that I refused to tell anyone we were actually engaged, and just told them we were planning on getting married. I was also stubborn about going ring shopping, though I'm not sure why. A pretty sparkly to wear on my finger? Why did I wait so long?

20. I used to hate cheesecake, even the smell. I even tried a chocolatey one at a friend's wedding reception. I hated it until I went to NYC to visit my friend Hayley. She took me to the best cheesecake in town and it was history from there... yummy, delicious, cheesecake eating history :)

21. When Carly got engaged, I decided it was time to get healthy and happy with my body. I lost 13 pounds that summer before her wedding. I need to make that decision again and lose the rest of the baby weight. I'm at the same weight now that I was when I made the decision before Carly's wedding.

22. Two months after I started working at Career Step (where I still work today), the then-owner shut down the company for two days and flew everyone to Disneyland. My family met me there and I got a paid day to play with my family. It was great!

23. While I was in NYC, Hayley and I saw Shakespeare in the Park... with Al Pacino. We were literally 30 feet away from him. It was awesome.

24. When I was 4, my parents took me to the ER because I had difficulty breathing. Turns out I'm asthmatic.

25. In elementary school, an optometrist told my parents I needed glasses because I was too far-sighted. How is that a bad thing?

26. Sean and I took two honeymoons; one right after we got married to Moab, and one after the semester ended to Southern California (Sea World, Disneyland, etc.). Best trip ever!

27. When my parents were here for Thanksgiving 2012, my mom saw my prenatal prescriptions on the counter at my house and asked what they were for. I told her my doctor recommended taking prenatals before I got pregnant (which is true). I lied through my teeth, I really was pregnant at the time ;)

28. I love listening to classical music. That's usually all we listen to, even in the car. Mason seems to like it too.
