Bunk Beds

For a long time now, Sean and I have been talking about a bunk bed for the boys. We always talked about it for the future, like when he had a job and we had a new place and were more settled. Well, a couple months before Cori was born, we started thinking about how nice it would be to have a bunk bed sooner, how much more space would be available in their bedroom. So we started looking on craigslist and facebook marketplace, but we didn't want a metal one, and the wood ones were still expensive. We missed out on a free on by literally an hour one time! We started looking for bunk bed plans on Pinterest (what would we do without Pinterest??? Literally my entire recipe book would be empty). There were some we liked but couldn't settle on. Then our friend Jeff Toone said, "hey, our boys' bunk bed would be easy to copy, and I have all the stuff to build it!" Sean and Jeff measured out every piece, and we took our measurements to Home Depot and bought all the wood! That was fun, trying to calculate lengths and where to make the cuts, especially with pregnant brain!

The wood sat in their garage the entire building time. We originally hoped it would be done before Cori was born, turns out it wasn't finished until after Henry was born! But it got done. after many dinner nights at the Toone's house! Sean and Jeff cut, sanded, drilled holes, and stained everything! It is so solid and hardly makes any noise when Mason climbs up to the top! Mason and Luke love it!!

February 10: We had to buy the boys snacks to keep them occupied while we found all the wood.

March 24: Cutting and drilling! This made me so excited to see!!

June 2: Stained and beginning assembly! This was one of the best days of my life haha!

Completed and assembled! A couple days later, one of Sean's classmates posted that she was getting rid of a twin mattress, so we jumped on that! We also bought bunk bed boards from DI to go under the mattresses. So fun to see it put together!

Salinas Valley Fair 2018

I don't know why, but it's hilarious to me that this is my third year in a row going to this fair. But that's the benefit of my parents living in the same town as the fair! Free lodging, and lots of help with the kiddos! Unfortunately, Sean had to stay behind again this year to study. Next year maybe?

As we drove south out of Gilroy, there was this cloud cover over Salinas. It was very ominous looking! Lol!

Sleepy baby! Sleeping in a new house had no impact on her sleep at all, which was so nice!

Friday morning, we went to Jenny's friends, the Black's, house, to meet their puppy, and go on a little walk! The boys were a little wary of the dogs at first, but quickly warmed up, and Mason got a kick out of throwing one of their dogs her toy. After our walk, the boys played cars while I nursed Cori. We then went home and took naps, and after naps, Mason just wanted to hug Aunt Jenny! <3 p="">

Then we went to the fair! This year was BY FAR the best fair year. Oh man! Mason was so brave. Like, no fear whatsoever. He went on every ride he was tall enough for multiple times! And Luke mustered up the courage to ride the few he was allowed to, and rode each a few times :) Mason's face after he got off each ride was priceless! He said his favorite was the giant slide, and Luke said his favorite was the dragon roller coaster. Which is hilarious, because he hated it lol. Also, pony ride and wristbands courtesy of Grandma Jones. Thanks Mom!!

The Amgen Bike Tour was in CA this past week, and one of the days they stopped and rode around Salinas Valley. The fair had a contest where people could decorate a bike tire. This was the winner! Made from all bike parts. I love it!

We spent the rest of the weekend at my parents. On Saturday morning, Katie and Alex came up to meet baby Cori! We lazed around on Saturday, and went to church Sunday.

Literally, Katie has been a godsend with this little girl! Her carseat, car seat cover, nursing cover, and half her clothes came from this amazing mama. Love you Katie!

Wearing Grandpa's hat!

Cuddles with Grandpa!

It's so nap time... this was mid tantrum.

Milk drunk before we drove away Monday morning.

Everyone slept the second half of the drive. It was marvelous!!

Thanks Mom, Dad, and Jenny for a super fun weekend! Love you!

The Blackham's Visit!

A couple days after we got home from Disneyland, our good friends from Utah came out for a visit! We were so excited to spend a few days with Zach, Autumn, and Rilee! Rilee and Luke are exactly 5 weeks apart, and are in love! Well, we hope they get married some day lol! Zach competed in the track meet held at Sac State that weekend, which is only a few minutes from our house. While they were here, we swam, went to the Children's Museum, went to the zoo, played games, went to the temple, and had lots of yummy food! Thanks for visiting you guys! We miss you tons!

Such a fun weekend! Anyone else want to come visit?! We are great hosts and I make all your meals!! LOL :)
